Only Jesus Can

 

Only Jesus can make a sad heart glad

the only one who can give the best joy you ever had

He fills the hungry heart to satisfied and full

the only one who can redeem the sinful soul

Only Jesus can wash our sins away

the only one who can turn the night into day

He will always say "I forgive you"

the only one who can change a heart to make it new

Only Jesus can comfort you when you need a friend

the only one who stays with you to the end

He is always on duty caring for his sheep

the only one who loves so tenderly and deep

Only Jesus can heal a broken heart

the only one who shares our sorrows and takes a part

He is the savior who knows our deepest woes

the only one who gives victory over all our foes

Only Jesus can dry away our tears

the only one who calms all our fears

He is always there to strengthen in times of need

the only one to follow as he does guide and lead

Only Jesus can see the lonesome heart and void

the only one who can fill it to overjoyed

He is always there to hear our pleadings and request

the only one who gives perfect peace and rest

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

The Comforter

Jesus gives us peace in our heart

that the world cannot give

Because of the Holy Spirit

who dwells within and lives

The Holy Spirit is our comforter

who teaches us all things

He gives us understanding of His word

and joy that makes our heart sing

The Holy Spirit brings things

to our remembrance

recalling things in Gods word

about Jesus and the events

The Father sent this wonderful comforter

to abide with us forever

and as born again believers

he will leave us never, no never

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Waiting on the Lord

Waiting on the Lord is a hard thing to do

Just look to the Lord and wait for his cue

We get in such a hurry and just want to go

when God says in his Word just "Be still and know"

Be still and don't lose heart if the trial seems long

If you plug the branch into the vine you can be strong

He has the power we need to travel down life's road

Just tell him all your problems and he will carry the load

God is always on time, though we sometimes have to wait

He knows what he is doing and he will not be late

His schedule is not disrupted because of our lack of trust

He just wants to get all the glory and our life to readjust

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God

Perfect Peace

The day in which we live is a

dangerous and perilous time

If you speak out for Jesus,

it soon will be considered a crime

But Jesus who loves us

and notes the sparrow's fall

Will always be so near

and hear us when we call

Though the world everywhere

is full of trouble, pain, and sorrow

If you keep your mind on him,

He'll give you peace today and tomorrow

He gives his perfect peace

to those who trust in him

Though the world seems spinning out of control

Jesus will keep safe and secure your soul

Just tell Jesus all your troubles

and he will see you through

He already knows about them

and knows what he is going to do

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Trials

Trials come on suddenly

and hit us like a freight train

We get dismayed and wonder

"was my labor all in vain"

Yesterday everything was

so sunny and so bright

and today we try so hard

but just can't seem to find the light

We question what is going on

and why things happen as they do

But God says "My child fret not,

I have a plan for you"

Then we look upward

and see a rainbow in the sky

and a voice whispers softly to us

"God is still on his throne on high"

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Calm Assurance

Our fathers way may twist and turn

and our troubled hearts may ache

But we know God can turn ashes into beauty

and remold and remake

He can put the broken pieces

back together again

so to praise and glorify his name

and once more anew begin

Being torn and in distress

does not mean weve been forsaken

it only means God is still on His throne

with a plan to get us awakened

When struggles and sin are besetting

and the day seems long

he knows how to fix things

and put in our heart a song

To have a calm assurance

that soon the struggle will be done

when safe in the arms of Jesus

well be in heaven and eternity just begun

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
